2.6. Virtual Caches

Virtual geocaches are a grandfathered type of cache. You cannot submit new virtual cache listings, but you can find those that remain active and log them.

The virtuals that you can find today are mostly great examples of this cache type. But they took a lot of time to review and it was difficult to determine guidelines for high-quality virtuals. That is why we stopped publishing new virtuals in 2005.

As an alternative to virtual caches, you might be interested in Waymarking.com. Waymarking is similar to finding virtual caches.
